Running without cooling is either the sealed system or the air path, and touch plus the position of the frost separates them. That is as freezer repairs go it holds few surprises. What we ask before coming is how quickly it comes back after you clear it: within days points at the heater or its sensor, a month or more usually means a door left off its catch or damp air getting in โ€” household habit, not a component, and we will say that plainly. ### Can it live in the garage? It can, but it changes what to expect and it is worth being told before rather than after. Ambient temperature and humidity in an unconditioned South Florida garage sit far above what the specification assumes; the machine runs longer, the condenser loads faster, and the door seal gets a workout every time somebody opens it into eighty-five per cent air. None of that is a defect, and all of it shortens the interval between services. ### How long can it hold after a power cut? Unopened, a full integrated freezer holds usable temperature for the better part of a day, and a half-empty one for far less โ€” which is a real argument for keeping it full during hurricane season. The thing that costs food is opening it to check.
