# Asko diagnostic visit

### Two findings, because one is not enough on this make

Most diagnostics establish a component. Here the visit has to establish a platform as well, because Asko numbers its errors per board revision rather than per appliance — three dishwasher schemes, five washer families, dryer codes that change form across revisions of one platform. A machine read against the wrong table produces a confident answer and the wrong part, and the cabinets look identical from the front. So the model code is read off the door edge before a panel moves, and what follows is instruments: the behavior made to happen in front of us, meter readings at whatever could produce it, and the number written down before anything is dismantled.

What this involves

Generation before symptom — it settles which table the digits belong to

The number is written down before the work, and it comes off the repair

Where mending makes no sense we say it, instead of finding a part to sell

Identify the machine, not just the make

Model code from the door edge or frame sticker, together with the panel style. Those two facts are what turn a string on a display into something readable here.

Reproduce the complaint under measurement

The behavior made to happen in front of us, with readings taken at whatever could cause it. Something we have watched beats something we have been told.

Write the number down before opening anything

The job, the figure it starts from, and the specific things that would move it. No part is ordered and no panel comes off before you have agreed to that.

### Do you need the model number before you come?

On this badge it matters more than on almost any other. On the dishwashers the same digits belong to three different tables, and the model is the only thing that separates them. A photograph of the sticker on the door edge sent with the booking frequently decides what goes on the van.

### What if the machine is not worth repairing?

Then that is the answer you have paid for, at the same figure. We would rather reach it at the diagnostic than halfway through a day's labor, and on a steel-framed Asko it is a less common answer than it would be on most makes.
