### Two families, and the model decides which table is yours

Induction hobs are the only cooking category on this badge with genuinely decoded codes, and they come in two generator families that share no numbers at all — F-strings on one, E and Er strings on the other, documented per model. Before any of that, two checks cost nothing and close a real share of these calls: a magnet on the pan base, and every lock and child-safety state cleared. And a hob that cuts out after a few minutes is usually shedding heat it cannot lose through the cabinet below.

Check what cools it

Fan, filter and the air path through the cabinet below. A hob in a tight island with a drawer stack behind it overheats and protects itself, which reads as intermittent electronics.

### It works in the morning and not in the afternoon.

That is thermal, not electronic. The generator is cooled by air drawn through the cabinet underneath, and joinery closes that route more often than anyone expects. Fixing the airflow costs less than any part.

### Do I need a new set of pans?

Only if a magnet will not grip their bases. Some stainless is magnetic in the center and nowhere else, which produces a zone that works with one pan and not another and looks exactly like a defect in the hob.
