This is the only job on the list that fixes nothing. What it produces is a written record of which generation your machine is, which code table applies to it, and which parts channel serves it — established from the model code, the panel revision and, where the machine is open, the board part number. ### Is it worth it if nothing is wrong?

### Can I not just read the model number myself?

You can, and it is worth doing. What the visit adds is matching that model to the manual set that actually documents it, rather than to a list online — and on the hobs and dryers a sibling one letter away is a different board with a different table.
