# Asko one induction zone dead

### What to do in the next ten minutes

Hold a fridge magnet to the base of the pan. A feeble pull or none says the cookware is unsuitable and the pan is wrong. Then clear every lock and safety state on the panel. Try the same pan on each zone in turn and write down which work — the pattern matters more than the fact that one is out.

### Two code families that share no numbers

If the hob is showing anything, which family it belongs to matters more than the digits. One generator generation prints F-strings — F00, F0 through F6, F7, F8, F9, F99, FA, FC and FAN. The other prints E and Er strings — Er03, E2, E3, E5, E6, U400 and Er47. They are documented per model, they do not overlap, and reading one against the other is how the wrong board gets ordered.

### What the cabinet below has to do with it

The electronics under the glass are cooled by a fan drawing air through the cabinet beneath, and in a tight island with a drawer stack behind it that route is frequently closed. The F-family says so in as many words: the ambient temperature is not good, and the venting holes under the plate must be open. It shows as intermittent electronics and it is joinery.

The cookware is not suitable

Induction needs a ferromagnetic base and some stainless is magnetic only in the center. There is a published code for exactly this on the E-family hobs.

The zone's coil or its board section has failed

Local hardware, which is why one dead zone is a better starting point than a dead hob. Adjacent pairs point at a shared board section instead.

The hob is overheating and protecting itself

Intermittent, worse in the afternoon, and caused by joinery closing the air path under the glass rather than by a component. No part substitutes for fixing the airflow.

Does a magnet stick to the pan?

Two seconds, no tools, and it ends a real share of these calls.

Is a lock or child-safety state set?

Wiping the glass down sets them more often than anybody admits.

Which zones work?

One out is local. Two adjacent out together is a board section, and that is a different part and a different figure.

Three zones work and the fourth does nothing

What it usually means

A magnet on the pan base settles the commonest cause in two seconds

Lock and child-safety states look identical to a dead zone

Two adjacent zones failing together means a board section, not a coil

### The glass has a crack. Does that matter?

Yes — stop using it and isolate the circuit. A crack lets moisture onto the coils and the board beneath, and what follows is electrical rather than cosmetic.

### Can one zone be repaired without replacing the whole hob?

Usually. Coils and board sections are serviceable parts. What decides it on this badge is availability, because no hob is in the US catalog and the parts come from Europe.
