Symptom
Asko washer not spinning
Clothes heavy with water at the end of a program that otherwise ran normally. Three free things account for most of these and all three can be settled before anybody is called: the machine has not drained, the load will not balance, or the program chosen has no spin in it. What is left after those is genuinely mechanical — the door lock the machine will not spin without, the motor and its control, or the shock absorbers that have worn far enough that the drum moves more than the balance check will allow.

The interlock again. Everything upstream of the spin looks fine and the machine simply will not accelerate a full drum.

Does it spin empty?
The single most useful test on this complaint, and it costs one program. Write down what happens.

Is one heavy item in the load?
A bath mat or a single towel is the classic. The machine will try ten times to redistribute it and then continue without spinning, which is correct behavior.

Does the drum move a lot when you push it?
With the power off, push the drum and let go. One that bounces rather than settling has lost its damping.

What to do in the next ten minutes
Take the load out and run a spin-only program on the empty drum. If it spins, the problem is drainage or balance and this becomes a much cheaper visit. If it does not, listen: a click and then nothing is usually the door lock; a hum without rotation is the motor or something jammed. Turn the drum by hand with the machine unplugged and note whether it moves freely.
Why the machine gives up rather than complaining
An unbalanced load at full spin will walk a machine across a tiled floor, so the control measures balance before it accelerates and abandons the attempt if it cannot get there. On the display panels that is reported as an imbalance message the manual explicitly says needs no action; on the analog machines it is not reported at all and you simply find wet washing. Both are the machine working correctly, which is why the empty-drum test matters so much.
The repair that prevents the expensive one
Worn shock absorbers are the quietest failure on a washing machine: nothing reports them, and the first sign is a machine that spins less reliably and moves more. Left alone, the extra travel loads the drum bearing, and that is a day's strip-down instead of an afternoon's parts. On a steel-framed machine worth keeping, this is the cheapest protection there is.
