Prove it has drained
A spin-only program on an empty drum. If that works, the problem is in draining or balancing, and this becomes a much cheaper visit.

Check the interlock and the motor circuit
Door lock tested electrically, motor and its control read under load, brushes checked where the platform has them.

Look at what carries the drum
Shock absorbers, springs and bearing play. A drum that moves too far never satisfies the balance check, and the machine gives up rather than reporting anything.

Three things close most of these and none of them costs anything — drainage, balance and the program chosen — run a spin-only cycle with the drum empty and write down what happens. What is left is mechanical: the door lock the machine must confirm before it will spin, the motor and its control, or shock absorbers worn far enough that the balance check gives up before the drum ever reaches speed. That last one matters beyond this repair, because the extra travel it allows is what takes a drum bearing out early.

Yes, and the machine is behaving correctly when it happens. It will try up to ten times to redistribute the load and then finish the program without spinning. If it happens on ordinary mixed loads too, the suspension is the next thing to look at.
