Inspect both hoses along their whole length
Bulges, crazing at the unions, and the date on the hose where it is printed. Behind a machine in a closet is the one place nobody looks.

Clean the screens and test the valve
Inlet screens out and rinsed, then the valve checked both opening and holding shut. Seepage while off is what fills a machine overnight.

Leave it safe rather than just working
Hoses renewed where they are aged, unions torqued properly, and the service valve left somewhere a person can actually reach in a hurry.

A front loader built around a steel frame rather than a plastic one, sold here as Classic, Logic and Style — the three-, five- and seven-series. What makes it awkward to write about honestly is that five different code families are in circulation across the machines still running in South Florida: the W6 display machines print F10 to F12; the WM75 platform speaks in E-numbers as far as E37; the numbered-LED machines use a short F-set whose meanings do not match the display machines; the analog LED machines signal L1 to L6 and mean different things by model; and the premium panels skip the code entirely and print a sentence. There is no single Asko washer code list, and any page that offers one is guessing.

The least interesting visit, and the one with the largest downside
Inlet hoses are under mains pressure whenever the taps are open, and they perish out of sight behind a machine nobody moves. Everything else on a washer fails and stops working; a hose fails and keeps delivering water until somebody turns a tap. So they are replaced on age rather than on failure, the inlet screens are cleaned, and the valve is tested both opening and — the one that gets missed — holding closed. A valve seeping while the machine is off fills the drum overnight, and there is a dedicated message for it on this make.

How old is too old for a hose?
Ten years is a reasonable ceiling, five where the machine is doing building duty. Braided stainless costs very little more and fails far more gracefully.
Is there anything free I can do?
