What to do in the next ten minutes
Push the door firmly shut and try again. Empty the water container and seat it fully. Cut the power at the socket, wait five clear minutes, restore it. Then note whether the panel lights at all — that single observation splits this complaint in half and it is the first thing we will ask you.
Why a dryer checks so much before it runs
Door, container, temperature and sometimes filter state are all interlocked, because a dryer that starts with any of them wrong is a dryer that either spills water or overheats. The consequence for the owner is that a machine which will not start is usually being sensible rather than broken, and that the cheap checks genuinely are the likely ones. It is the opposite of most appliances, where silence means something serious.
