Why an Asko Part Sometimes Takes Weeks, and When It Does Not
Asko parts split cleanly in two, and which side your appliance falls on decides the timing rather than the price. Dishwashers, washers and dryers are listed for sale in the United States, supported here, and their components — seals, pumps, heaters, shock absorbers, valves — are ordinary parts on ordinary timescales. Ovens, hobs, hoods, ranges, microwaves and refrigeration are not in the US catalog at all; that equipment reached South Florida through earlier distribution or by import, and its parts travel from a European channel. On this site that shows up in exactly one figure, the control board, which starts from $285 — and nowhere else, because a lead time is not a reason to charge more for labor. What it is a reason for is saying the wait out loud at the diagnostic rather than after you have committed.

There are two Asko parts stories and they belong to different appliances in the same kitchen.
The ordinary half
Dishwashers, washers and dryers are current US products. Twelve dishwashers, eight washers and twelve dryers are listed for sale here, they are supported here, and the components that actually fail on them — door seals, pump filters, shock absorbers, heaters, inlet valves, drain pumps — behave like any other appliance part.
If your complaint is on one of those three machines, this article mostly does not apply to you.
The half that travels
Ovens, hobs, hoods, ranges, microwaves and refrigeration are not in the US catalog at all. Asko lists zero ovens, zero hobs and zero hoods for sale here, and exactly one refrigeration product — a wine cabinet.
That equipment is in South Florida kitchens anyway, through earlier distribution and through kitchens specified around European appliances. It is good equipment and it is worth keeping. Its parts come from a European channel.
What that changes, and what it does not
It changes the wait. A part that would be next-day on a US-market machine may be several weeks on this one, and that is a real thing to plan a kitchen around.
It does not change the labor. The work of fitting an element is the work of fitting an element. Charging more for it because the part came further would be charging twice for one fact.
On this site the channel shows up in exactly one published figure — the control board, from $285 — and nowhere else. That is deliberate, and it is written down in our pricing notes so nobody has to take it on trust.
Why we say it at the diagnostic
Because the timing is frequently half the decision. A three-week wait on a wall oven in a household of two is an inconvenience; the same wait before a holiday, or in a rental turnaround, is a different answer entirely. You cannot weigh that after agreeing to a repair.

The part itself is ordinary; the supply channel is European, so the answer to when depends on the model rather than on the day of the week. We say that at the diagnostic and not afterwards. Where an element has failed early, the reason is worth finding too — a thermostat holding the oven above its setting will take the next one just as quickly.

Questions people ask about this
Can you fit a generic part instead?
For some things, yes and gladly — hoses, some seals, common electrical components. For anything the control talks to, no: a board or a sensor that is nearly right produces a machine that nearly works, and on this make the platform differences are exactly what make near-enough wrong.
How long is a long wait?
It varies by part and by model, and we would rather quote yours than an average. What we will not do is give an optimistic figure to get the job agreed and revise it afterwards — the timing is part of the answer and it arrives with the price.
Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
